New Year, or the “Spring Festival” as it is known in China, is the longest and most important holiday in China.
The Chinese New Year 2017 begins on January 28, 2017. The year 2017 is placed under the protection of the fabulous and flamboyant sign of the Fire Rooster, whose virtues of righteousness, perseverance and transparency.
The Year of the Rooster will be a powerful one, with no middle of the road when it comes to moving forward. This year, impressions count. You’ll want to look your best and be clear on your intentions concerning love, money and business. Stick to practical and well-proven paths to ensure success, rather than risky ventures.
A good year to do more exercise, watch diet and lose weight, 2017 will be more effective to trim down excessive fat.

The Cairns Chinese New Year Street Festival is a popular and much anticipated community event that celebrates
Tropical North Queensland’s diversity and rich Chinese heritage.
The program includes:
Street parade (commences at 6pm)
Colourful Lion and Dragon performances
Chinese drumming
 Interactive art and cultural displays
 Chinese and street food
 A huge variety of market stalls
 Fireworks and firecrackers (at 9pm)
 Live entertainment and prize draws at The Good Guys Main Stage and Star 102.7 Stage
Children’s activities include Chinese crafts and the opportunity to feed the Lion.
